Bobo
Samuel Jackson would play a good Bobo. Bobo is known as a person who is not that bright. He does things without thinking. He is the type of person who would spend money without thinking. For example,
Karl Linder
Richard Gere would play a good Karl Linder. He one of my favorite actors. He does so well in all his movies. Karl Linder is known as the guy who comes from Clybourne Park. He is to be a guy who says things without noticing. He says many things to insult the Youngers, doesnt realize it. Richard Gere plays well in all his roles. He played a role like this in "Pretty Women". He was kind of insulting to one of the clients.
George Murchison
I think Mel Jackson should play George Murchison. In the movie "Soul Food", Mel Jackson plays an ex-boyfriend who is rich and loves to show it off. George Murchison is the same way in the play. He is educated and wealthy. George is a show off, for example when Beneatha asked him what time does the show start, his response was "It's an eight-thirty curtain. That's just Chicago, though. In New York, standard curtain time is eight-forty". It was an unnecessary answer. This shows that he's a "know it all", just like Mel Jackson in "Soul Food".
Joseph Asagi
I think Eddie Murphy would play a well role as Joseph Asagi, back when he did "Coming to America". In this movie Eddie Murphy had an accent and came from Africa. It's similar to the character Joseph, he's from Nigeria. I also believe that when Eddie Murphy plays a role as a character he fits all his roles very well. He makes the actual character come to life, he makes it seem like he's in the person's shoes.
Beneatha Younger
Jennifer Hudson would be someone I see playing Beneatha Younger. She is very talented and smart. Jennifer Hudson has some manly features to her look just like Beneatha. Jennifer Hudson did an amazing job in "Dream Girls" and in "The Secret Life of Bees". Beneatha's character is very intelligent, sarcastic, and very straight forward. She uses her knowledge to get her point across. When I see Jennifer Hudson in a movie, I believe she does the same. She does all she can to bring that character to life, so everyone can feel where she is coming from.
Ruth Younger
I believe that Vivica A. Fox would play a good Ruth Younger. She did a great job in the movie "Soul Food". She was the sister who kept everyone together and tried to keep everyone happy. She was always the peace maker of the movie. These characteristics are much like Ruth in the play. For example, when Mama and Beanetha argued and Mama smacked her, Ruth went and told Mama that Beaneatha said she was sorry. She went out of her way to tell Mama that so that there wouldn't be any anger in the house.
Lena Younger (Mama)
I think Mo-Nique would play the perfect Mama. She did a great job with her role in Precious. She is a very talented actress. She always seems to have that motherly, caring, loving feeling when she's in movies. When she used to be on her own show called "The Parkers" she was a great mother to her daughter and always wanted the best for her.
In the play Mama says this, " Son- you--you understand what I done, don't you? I--I just seen my family falling apart today... just falling to pieces in front of my eyes... We couldn't of gone on like we was today. We was going backwards 'stead of forwards-- talking 'bout killing babies and wishing each other was dead... When it gets like that in life-- you just got to do something different, push on out and do something bigger... " When she says this it reminds me of Mo-Nique and he motherly role in the show "The Parkers" and in "Precious'.
Travis Younger
I think Jaden Smith would play the perfect part for Travis Younger. He's a terrific little actor. The movies he's been in caught my eye because he seems so dedicated to his part in them. I think he would play a perfect Travis because he's around the same age as Travis in the play. Since Will Smith is playing Walter Lee, Travis' father, it would make it even better.
Walter Lee Young
I think that Will Smith would play a good Walter Lee Young. He's an amazing actor and he seems to always fit his parts. For example, when he was in The Pursuit of Happiness, he played a very loving and caring father to his son. This is similar to Walter Lee Young in A Raisin in The Sun. Walter Lee wants to open a business to provide a better life for his family. A part that showed me that Walter Lee cared a lot about his family was when he gave his son Travis the fifty cents for school and an extra fifty cents for himself.
